Clear Liquid Diet

Clear liquids are any liquid that you can see through. They may be colored, but as long as you can see through them, they are still considered clear liquids. That is why items like coffee or tea (without milk or creamer) are considered clear liquids. Foods that become even partly liquid at room temperature, including popsicles or hard candies, are also considered to be part of the clear liquid diet.

Clear liquids are easily digested and are used prior to procedures because they leave no undigested residue in your intestinal tract. Clear liquid diets help maintain adequate hydration and provide some important electrolytes.

Please avoid any red liquids or alcoholic beverages. Red liquids can leave a red tint in your intestinal tract, which could affect the procedure.
